Dave has been influenced by.
David F. Gordon, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, at an early age learned to listen and love Jazz through the influences and mentoring of musicians like Freddie Hubbard, Louis Armstrong, David Hines and the renowned Lee Morgan.
His academic achievements include education at:Meramec Junior College in St. Louis where he then won a scholarship from Northland College continuing his education there. After Northland College, Dave went on to higher levels at The University of Superior Wisconsin where he was awarded "First Place" from the prestigious Wisconsin Au Claire-Ja Festival.
Always in the quest for perfection, Dave continues to study with the well known Dr.Donald Byrd at the Jazzmobile in New York City and Professor Fielder of Rutgers University to reach new frontiers in music.
Touring with and recording albums with "The Sun Ra Arkestra", "Ronald Shannon Jackson and The Decoding Society","David Murray Big Band", and "Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers". Dave also had opportunities to work with a number of Blues Artists, Albert King, Bobby Blues Band, and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
Dave was invited to perform at the Black Roots 20th Festival, the Texaco Jazz Festival, and then he headlined with the Zane Massey Band for the Carnevale Di Venezia in Venice, Italy. During this year he also performed at Radio City Music Hall for the "Grammy Awards".
Significant other engagements include recording with Terry Adams on his album "Terrible" with New World Records, performing with "The Scorpions of The New Germany", Paul Rogers of "Bad. Company" at the "Elvis Tribute" on Pay Per View TV, playing at the "House of Blues" and "Woff Trap". He also traveled to London to play at the "Jazz Cafe". Dave's musical successes include enriching the program offered by New York City called "Music Under New York" which found him playing literally under New York City.
Dave's credits also include producing and recording the well received CD "Time Is The Answer", recording with the Dave Mulligan Group in Edinburgh, Scotland for the CD titled "Live in Scotland", recording "Dave Gordon.... The Fruit of Life, LOVE", and most recently produced and his brand new CD; "Kool So Kool".
David worked with Erick Morillo of Subliminal Records as their resident trumpet player recording house music. He also performed on a cooking show called "Barbequing with Bobby Seale".
Dave did two tours in Shanghai, China. He performed at The Melting Pot, The House of Blues, The Cotton Club, and the Chinese Moon Festival. While in China, Dave also performed at M on theBun with Dr. Dwight Dickerson and Sonja Kates. As well as several guest appearances at CJW's.

Objective:
Jazz workshop: Give young musicians the experience of performing various styles of jazz; Swing, Latin, standards. In addition, musicians learn the importance of the rhythm section and the essential tools for better improvisation.
